Seattle based firm goCstudio has installed a floating sauna on Seattle’s Lake Union. “Following in the Scandinavian tradition of saunas as a place for gathering, WA Sauna provides a place for Seattle’s community to share a unique experience on the water,” said Jon Gentry and Aimée O’Carroll, founders of the studio.

Easily transportable and accessible by kayak, the 240 square foot sauna is a registered vessel, powered by an electric trolling motor with three 12-volt batteries. Inside there’s enough space for six people. The interior features clear Alaskan yellow cedar panels with rows of seating facing an wood burning stove. The structure also consists of a roof deck with a diving board that can be accessed by an external ladder. The $25,000 USD project was funded through a Kickstarter campaign hosted in the fall of 2014.
