Seattle based firm goCstudio has installed a floating sauna on Seattle’s Lake Union. “Following in the Scandinavian tradition of saunas as a place for gathering, WA Sauna provides a place for Seattle’s community to share a unique experience on the water,” said Jon Gentry and Aimée O’Carroll, founders of the studio.

Easily transportable and accessible by kayak, the 240 square foot sauna is a registered vessel, powered by an electric trolling motor with three 12-volt batteries. Inside there’s enough space for six people. The interior features clear Alaskan yellow cedar panels with rows of seating facing a wood-burning stove. The structure also consists of a roof deck with a diving board that can be accessed by an external ladder. The $25,000 USD project was funded through a Kickstarter campaign hosted in the fall of 2014.
