Tired of seeing an outdated and gendered approach to a human experience, start-up company Maude has created a line of gender-neutral sex essential, which includes condoms, lubricants, a vibrator and a travel kit.
The products were developed by Eva Goicochea and Dina Epstein, who previously worked in marketing and product design respectively. The duo wanted to develop a collection of sex tools with a distinctly inclusive unisex spirit designed to strip away embarrassment and elevate sex for all.
“When conceptualizing Maude, we kept coming back to the idea of human-centered design for the products. When you think about how these products have been created previously, they always seem to ignore not only the purpose of the product—to enhance the experience—in how they design the packaging (we all have stories of fumbling to open condom wrappers), but also the discomfort that comes from these products being so loud and complicated,” explains Maude.
“Built on the tenets of inclusivity, simplicity, and quality, Maude is on a mission to change the culture of this industry. The company is quite literally, sex made simple,” they continued.
The first item in the collection is the Vibe, a vibrator made with a silicone soft touch shell. The vibe is a nondescript and easy-to-use 3-speed personal massager. With a USB charger and run time of 1-2.5 hours, the vibe can go anywhere.
The Rise lubricated condom is made from 100 percent latex, FDA-approved and features easy-to-open buttercup packaging. The Shine lubricant is available in silicone or an organic lubricant made from aloe and green tea. It comes in a rounded, medicinal-style bottle with a black pump.
The Maude Quickie travel kit contains two natural latex condoms and a small vial of lubricant, designed to serve desires expediently, whether at home or while traveling.
“With years of brand building and intimacy product design experience, we created essentials that make life easier and happier,” the designers said.
