The front of your house is the first thing anyone will see, whether visiting or just passing by, so you want to make it look amazing. For the perfect first impression, read on to find out how you can make the front of your house stand out for all the right reasons.
The Front Yard
Here, you can really let your creativity run wild! It can take a bit of time, but planting some flowers and other vegetation can add a splash of color to your house and bring out that bright, inviting look you’re looking for. If you’re new to gardening, look for some easy-to-grow plants– these are low effort but still pack a punch. You can also decorate your lawn with a variety of things – little signs, gnomes, and other decorations are perfect for your front garden and are sure to put a smile on people’s faces. And if you’re feeling particularly creative, a pond or even a solar-powered mini waterfall is a great feature to add to your garden to make it stand out from the others and look like a mini haven.
The Driveway
Many people focus on the yard and dismiss the driveway – but this just isn’t right! Your driveway takes up a lot of space outside your house, and leaving this unattended can really take away from the rest of the exterior. For driveways, you need a durable material that’ll last you without quickly deteriorating or going into disrepair – so we suggest using concrete! Why use concrete? It’s bound to last you, but doesn’t take away any aesthetic appeal – stamped, colored and exposed aggregate all look beautiful, and can really add a modern touch to your front.
The Front Door
Your front door is another thing people will notice, and although it doesn’t seem like it, you can add a good dollop of personality to the front of your house here. Why not consider painting it a bright color like orange, red, or blue? Invest in a few little creative numbers for the door, or even a little sign, and a knocker, too. A bell is always a good idea, but a knocker can add a little class or something a little different to the mix. Some lights (even fairy lights or colored lights if you’re looking for something a little more delicate) and a hanging basket can be the final touch you need to make your entrance feel cute and cozy.
The Walls
Think about it – your walls are the main part of your house, and certainly the biggest – so why not glam them up? If something more rural is your thing, consider getting some plants or vines to drape or grow up the sides and envelope your doorway, as well as a couple of trees to line the walls. If you’re a little funkier, consider going for a bright color to paint the walls– something that fits with the door is great, and with colors like pink or blue, your house will look like something out of a fairy tale!
Whatever you decide looks best, remember to follow your heart – it’s your house, and you want your personality to shine through.
