Maxime Brouillet

Quebec City-based creative marketing agency Cossette has unveiled its newly reimagined office in Old Montreal, designed by a space designed to foster collaboration, flexibility, and minimalist aesthetics. Through the lens of renowned architectural photographer Maxime Brouillet, the project reveals a thoughtful workspace that balances privacy and openness, while celebrating raw, honest materials.

At the heart of the redesign is a central gathering area, surrounded by three distinct workspace cubicles designed as small, house-like structures. These cubicles feature a soft, neutral color palette accented by bold cobalt blue, offering employees varying levels of privacy depending on their needs. The layout encourages spontaneous meetings and collaboration, while still providing quiet zones for focused work.

Architect Jérôme Lapierre embraced a philosophy of “celebrating the ordinary,” allowing the inherent beauty of materials to shine. Exposed concrete columns, suspended lighting, and visible air ducts contribute to an industrial yet refined atmosphere. Natural wood plays a key role, appearing on the interior facades of the cubicles and the central communal tables, reinforcing warmth and texture in the space.

For the common area, Cossette turned to élément de base to furnish the space with a mix of supportive and relaxed seating. The Panorama 2p modular sofa in light grey bouclé provides structured comfort, ideal for work discussions, while the Super-Pause oak chairs, upholstered in the same fabric, offer a softer, more inviting feel. The customizable nature of élément de base’s designsallowed Cossette to seamlessly integrate the furniture into the office’s aesthetic—light grey bouclé slipcovers complement the neutral tones, and the solid oak frames echo the wood elements throughout.

A standout feature of élément de base’s furniture is its removable slipcover system, enabling easy updates and personalization—a perfect match for a dynamic creative agency like Cossette. The result is a workspace that feels both intentional and adaptable, where design and functionality coexist effortlessly.

Located near a neighboring park, the office also benefits from natural light and greenery, enhancing the calm, inspiring atmosphere. This project is a testament to how minimalist design can create versatile, human-centric workspaces that adapt to the evolving needs of modern teams.
