In the heart of Brazil’s modernist capital, Cozze Ristorante emerges as a sanctuary for pause and human connection. Conceived by Hersen Mendes Arquitetura, the space is defined as fertile ground for encounters, memories, and affection, aiming to nourish visitors both physically and emotionally. This is not merely a place to eat, but an environment designed to sow dreams through shared experiences and thoughtful design, establishing a new benchmark for restaurant design in Brasília.

The architectural narrative is deeply rooted in its culinary theme. “As it is an Italian restaurant, we sought references in Italian culture and aesthetics,” explains architect Matheus Mendes. The resulting interior is a contemporary interpretation of Italian tradition, where familiar textures and tones are reimagined and gracefully transplanted into Brasília’s unique urban fabric. This sets the stage for a dining experience that feels both timeless and distinctly of the moment.

The architectural design of the space masterfully plays with contrast, exploring the dynamic relationship between curved and angular shapes. Planes and strips define the circulation, carving out distinct atmospheres within the open plan. Notably, soft curves shape the outdoor balcony and the main counter, creating an inherently inviting and welcoming environment. This deliberate fluid and expressive design is intended to encourage guests to linger, engaging with the space as much as with their companions.

“Each configuration was designed to offer pleasant experiences through geometry, color, and textures,” adds architect Anastácia Hersen. This meticulous approach stimulates a rich sensory experience, inviting visitors on a journey through the restaurant. The sinuous volumetry, combined with a material palette of natural and artificial stones, points to a contemporary language that expertly balances materiality, organicity, and visual impact. A key feature of this dialogue is the project’s respectful integration with an existing tree, which the building was designed to embrace.

A commitment to sustainability in architecture is woven into the project’s core. Conscious practices include the use of MDF and energy-efficient LED lighting throughout. The materiality itself is a highlight, where natural quartzite, handmade Brazilian hydraulic tiles, rustic stones, and textured paints are layered to create striking visual and tactile contrasts. This thoughtful selection contributes to the project’s unique character and sensory appeal.

Further elevating the experience is a careful curation of art and custom design. The restaurant features exclusive marble pieces, built-in benches, and four large canvases created specifically for the environment by artist Victoria Serednicki. Outside, a sculpture by Jadir Battaglia and a collection of natural adornments and objects from designers worldwide complete the scene. This reinforces a profound connection with local creative production while maintaining a sophisticated, global perspective, making Cozze Ristorante a holistic work of art in its own right.
