Nestled between the lush peaks of Ma On Shan Country Park and the sheltered waters of Three Fathoms Cove, Zaha Hadid Architects has unveiled its first Asian sports and commercial venture: the breathtaking GO PARK Sai Sha. This 1.3 million-square-foot complex, part of Sun Hung Kai Properties’ integrated development, has rapidly become a vibrant community hub, welcoming over one million visitors since its January 2025 opening.

Inspired by Hong Kong’s traditional mountain villages, the design manifests as an interconnected cluster of volumes cascading across the undulating terrain. Paulo Flores, Director at Zaha Hadid Architects, describes the core principles driving the architecture: a “fabric landscape” weaving nature into the project’s core, and a sweeping ramp system creating a “lifted village.”

This elevated network stitches together courtyards filled with cafes, shops, and sports facilities, all enriched by panoramic mountain and sea views. Bridges strategically link neighborhoods to spaces for discovery and public events, fostering organic exploration throughout the complex. Flores emphasizes how these elements “combine shopping, sports and entertainment within nature-enriched courtyards.”

The heart of GO PARK Sai Sha pulses at its central piazza, encircled by dining and retail outlets, while sinuous pathways ensure universal accessibility. A signature ramp ascends through multiple levels to expansive rooftop gardens, offering sweeping vistas over the adjacent million-square-foot sports park (GO PARK Sports) and the South China Sea beyond.

Simon Yu, Zaha Hadid Architects’ Hong Kong Director, highlights the project’s community-driven ethos: “We designed immersive public spaces integrating with spectacular natural beauty… deeply committed to providing Sai Sha’s residents with the very best amenities.” This commitment materializes through facilities that erase conventional boundaries between architecture and ecology.

Outdoors, adventure playgrounds, football/lacrosse pitches, tennis/basketball courts, climbing walls, a golf range, and running trails cater to diverse athletic pursuits. These are complemented by curated nature excursions to coastal and mountain environments through the GO PARK Aqua program.

Indoor facilities include a 1,500-seat multipurpose stadium hosting matches, concerts, and gatherings, alongside specialized venues like a fencing school. The swimming academy features a 25-meter indoor pool, completing a comprehensive sports and commercial complex for all ages and interests.

Ultimately, GO PARK Sai Sha transcends conventional development by dissolving barriers between built and natural environments. Through fluid accessibility and ecological sensitivity, Zaha Hadid Architects delivers a landmark where sport, leisure, commerce, and Hong Kong’s dramatic coastal ecology converge – redefining community-centric design for the 21st century.
