Zimoun

As part of “The overHEARD” exhibition series curated by the two Danish composers and sound artists Marie Koldkjær Højlund and Morten Riis, Swiss artist Zimoun shows off his largest installation ever built. The title of the exhibited site-specific work is: “435 prepared dc-motors, 2030 cardboard boxes 35x35x35cm | Zimoun 2017”. Well know for his striking works, Zimoun transforms everyday materials and objects into installations, defning the space, sound and atmosphere of the beholder’s experience. His work questions our conceptualization of noise through a staging of new ways of listening to well-known pieces of apparatus and objects. This installation is one of his largest to date, and made specifically for Rå Hal at Godsbanen, Aarhus. The installation is made of 2030 cardboard boxes 35x35x35 cm, 435 dc-motors and 750 meters aluminium rope.

The OverHEARD exhibition invites everyone to be attentive to the live environment and become attuned to the distinctions between music, noise and ambient sounds. The exhibition is currently taking place at the Godsbanen in Aarhus, Denmark and will run until March 30, 2017.

At the end of this month, on March 25, Le Centquatre in Paris will present Zimoun’s largest solo exhibition up to date which will be on display from March 25 until August 6, 2017. The exhibition will show 8 site-specific works in large scale.
