Pamela Tan Weaves Colorful Strings To Create Projection: Kite Installation In Malaysia

Projection: Kite Installation / Pamela Tan

David Yeow

Coinciding with Good Vibes Festival in Malaysia, Projection: Kite by Pamela Tan is a spatial installation to symbolize life and festivity. Design elements of Projection: Kite derive from the methodology of drawing graphical perspective with strings. The installation has been configured with modular structures to project a kite, a common festive crafted object — a symbol of celebration. Enlarging the object and following its geometries, the designer’s installation piece fits into the festival perfectly.

Vibrant colorful strings from the body of the kite envelope the structure extending into the central atrium. The loose strings move with the breeze and music, providing a dynamic installation for guests to dance and be in. Weaving in and between the interstitial and arches, the colorful strings playfully invites you to experience a visual portal of lightness and transparency.
