Rivian's Autonomous R2 and R3 Electric SUVs

Rivian

Rivian recently introduced a trio of midsize electric SUVs in a single day, each boasting 11 cameras, 5 radars, and a cutting-edge computational platform that enables them to operate autonomously with advanced self-driving capabilities. Following a successful collaboration with Amazon on delivery vehicles, Rivian is now back with a fresh lineup featuring vehicle designs that streamline and eliminate the need for high-pressure die castings, a structural battery unit that doubles as the vehicle’s floor, and innovative closure systems.

The latest self-driving electric SUVs from Rivian are equipped with proprietary networks and computational software developed in-house to support their independent driving capabilities. Among these new models, the R2 stands out as a frontrunner, exuding elegance and sophistication with its soft-white exterior. Car enthusiasts will appreciate the motorized rear glass that seamlessly retracts into the liftgate, allowing for easy transportation of various gear and equipment while enjoying an open-air driving experience.

Inside the R2, a five-passenger electric SUV, the first and second-row seats can be folded completely flat to create a spacious interior ideal for storing gear, cargo, or even setting up for car camping adventures. The thoughtful design of the R2 ensures that it not only looks sleek and modern but also offers practical features that cater to the needs of drivers seeking both style and functionality in their electric vehicles.

The R3X, Rivian’s performance variant of the R3, comes after the R3 in the lineup. While the R3 is a midsize electric SUV with a spacious interior and off-road capabilities, the R3X is specifically designed for both on- and off-road driving. Both models, the R2 and R3, offer different configurations including single-motor, dual-motor, and tri-motor setups. The tri-motor configuration, with two motors in the rear and one in the front, allows for impressive acceleration, capable of reaching 0 to 60 mph in under 3 seconds.
