Hunter Green: URWERK's Latest Odyssey in Time and Space

URWERK

URWERK, renowned for its avant-garde approach to horology, has unveiled its latest creation: the UR-100V “Hunter Green.” More than just a new colorway, this release represents a refined exploration of material and light, encapsulating the brand’s signature blend of technical prowess and artistic vision. Forget standard green; this is an “ash green,” a subtly metallic hue that dances with the light, evoking a sophisticated, almost British, elegance.

This unique aesthetic is achieved through a full-titanium construction, extending from the case to the meticulously crafted bracelet. The UR-100V “Hunter Green” magnifies the minimalist design language of the “Magic T” line, showcasing the inherent beauty of both color and material.

“The UR-100V is like a blank canvas providing scope for infinite exploration,” explains Martin Frei, URWERK’s artistic director and co-founder. “We’re having fun with this collection, constantly rediscovering it through new expressions. Hunter Green was an obvious choice. It’s a living, breathing color that interacts with light and time.”

This sentiment is echoed by Felix Baumgartner, master watchmaker and co-founder of URWERK: “We worked on this metallic ash green with the same devotion as an antique patina, endowing the timepiece with an aura that is both industrial and organic. We’ve emphasised the depth of the dial and retained the mesmerizing magic of the titanium case and bracelet. Exploring this watch becomes almost a game of discovery through time and space.”

Beneath the captivating surface lies the heart of URWERK’s distinctive horological approach. The UR-100V eschews traditional hands in favor of a mesmerizing display of wandering hours. A satellite crosses a graduated arc to indicate the minutes, seamlessly transitioning to the next hour in a poetic and precise mechanical ballet. This ingenious system, inspired by a 17th-century clock, is a testament to URWERK’s ability to blend historical inspiration with futuristic innovation.

The UR-100V transcends its role as a mere timekeeper. It becomes a miniature observatory on the wrist. Two unique counters provide a constant reminder of our place in the cosmos. One displays the 555 kilometers traveled by Earth in 20 minutes as it rotates on its axis, while the other showcases the staggering 35,740 kilometers covered by our planet in the same timeframe as it orbits the Sun.

With the “Hunter Green” edition, URWERK continues its exploration of the intersection between time, space, and design. This is not simply a watch; it’s a statement piece, a conversation starter, and a tangible representation of humanity’s connection to the vast universe. It’s a testament to URWERK’s dedication to pushing the boundaries of horology, creating timepieces that are as captivating visually as they are mechanically sophisticated. The UR-100V “Hunter Green” is another compelling chapter in URWERK’s ongoing saga, a journey through time and space, rendered in a shade that is both subtle and striking.
