ANICORN and PlayStation Launch Mechanical Watch That Digitizes Gaming Nostalgia.

PlayStation ANICORN Mechanical Watch on PS1 console. Limited Edition 30th Anniversary timepiece for collectors.

ANICORN and PlayStation

Drawing on the restrained, minimal aesthetic of classic PlayStation hardware, timepiece studio ANICORN has launched a limited-edition mechanical watch to mark the console’s 30th anniversary. Limited to just 300 numbered pieces globally, the design translates the functional graphics and iconic silhouette of the original 1994 console into a high-end, wearable technology object for collectors and design enthusiasts.

The exhibition caseback reveals the Miyota 9039 mechanical movement, while the dial face vividly incorporates the four iconic △〇×□ symbols into the design of the watch.

Dubbed the PlayStation | ANICORN – The First PlayStation Limited Edition Mechanical Watch, the piece integrates specific controller details into its mechanics and surface design. The dial and the accompanying FKM strap are discreetly adorned with the console’s universally recognized graphic language: the triangle, circle, cross, and square (△〇×□) symbols. In a direct nod to the classic controller, the watch hands themselves are reinterpreted as the ‘Start’ and ‘Select’ buttons, injecting playful nostalgia into the time-telling function. The casing is completed with the PlayStation™ logo prominently displayed on the top cover.

A tribute to the 30th Anniversary, the Limited Edition Mechanical Watch is presented alongside the Memory Capsule and the iconic logo patch, celebrating three decades of PlayStation gaming nostalgia.

Beyond the visible symbols, subtle experiential cues are woven into the object’s interface. The crown of the timepiece features an ingenious engraving of the ‘Power’ button icon alongside the word “Power.” This simple detail transforms the daily act of preparing the watch into a powerful ritual, evoking the precise moment a gamer would switch on the console and immerse themselves in a virtual world—a feeling central to the product’s narrative, built for those who grew up pressing “Power.”

A detailed look at the dial shows the central PlayStation logo and the hands decorated with the ‘Start’ and ‘Select’ controller icons.

Technically, the mechanical watch utilizes the Japanese Miyota 9039 movement, a workhorse engine that offers an approximate running time of 42 hours on a full wind. The 316L stainless steel housing features a 42.8mm x 48.0mm form factor and includes an exhibition caseback to display the inner workings. Protected by a Sapphire Glass, the 50-meter water-resistance rating ensures the piece is both a collectible art object and a functional accessory designed for daily wear.

This collectible timepiece is built to be worn, allowing gamers and collectors to carry the spirit of the classic controller on their wrist.

Crucially, the watch is accompanied by the Memory Capsule, a collectible item that elevates the collaboration beyond standard merchandising. Replicating the physical design of the classic PlayStation memory card, this accessory is NFC-enabled. This feature links the physical object to a digital ‘Memory Board,’ a private archive space that utilizes the classic game-saving logic—SAVE your moment, LOAD your memory, OVERWRITE your journey—to encourage the archiving of personal history. This clever juxtaposition of analogue design and digital function positions the piece as a contemporary artifact.

The ANICORN watch sits atop the original PlayStation console, highlighting the timepiece’s direct design inspiration from the classic technology and industrial aesthetic.

The deliberate unboxing ritual further enhances the experience for the discerning collector. The watch is housed in the ‘Collector’s Vault,’ a heavy, screwed-down metal container that deliberately mimics the robust, industrial aesthetic of early PlayStation hardware. Unscrewing the lid is framed as the unlocking of a secret save file, a ritual that slows the process down and invites the user to engage with the object’s tangible quality, much like the original moment of powering on the console for the first time. The entire package is designed to honor the console’s 30-year legacy, positioning the watch as a definitive piece of gaming history.

The First PlayStation Limited Edition Mechanical Watch will be exclusively available worldwide on www.anicorn-watches.com , priced at US$780. The launch is scheduled for December 19, 2025, with specific times being 12 PM JST (Japan), 11 AM HKT (Hong Kong), and 10 PM EST on December 18, 2025 (New York).
