Located in Huzhou, China, on a hillside within the Lu Yu Tea Cultural Campus, the Cloud Tea Room by PLAT ASIA stands out as a distinctive teahouse. While drawing inspiration from traditional teahouse designs, it incorporates a modern touch through its choice of materials and commitment to eco-friendliness.
Situated within the Xisaishan Resort, the Cloud Tea Room seamlessly integrates with its natural surroundings, whether it be the verdant tea fields, undulating hills, tranquil lakesides, or enchanting forests. Positioned atop the resort, this teahouse presents a refreshing and contemporary interpretation of the timeless teahouse experience.
The architectural approach is all about minimizing the physical presence of the structure, allowing for a seamless connection between the tea room, its surroundings, and the visitors.
PLAT ASIA‘s design incorporates 170 steel poles that not only support the tea room but also create a pathway that meanders through the tea fields and hills. These steel poles, meticulously arranged using parametric design, form an outline that resembles clouds, giving the space a dreamy ambiance.
To further enhance the experience, a fog installation adds to the interplay between the virtual and real, enveloping visitors in mist and cloud as they explore. The materials used in the construction include white color-coated steel panels, ultra-clear glass, self-leveling white cement, tatami bamboo mats, matte acrylic boards, and spray equipment.
With its delicate integration into the natural environment, the Cloud Tea Room offers tea enthusiasts a truly unique and immersive experience within the Xisaishan Resort.
