Young filmmaker Zach Both has converted an empty cargo van into a fully functional and livable campervan to travel across the United States. Pulling influences from contemporary architecture, this mobile house/studio was methodically designed and built over a period of six months. Side panels were installed to let in the fresh air and the natural light. Inside a futon bed occupies the back, complete with a desk to work on the road and a functioning kitchen with stove. On the outside of the van, solar panels have been installed on the roof, powering the fridge, a mobile wifi network and a home theater system. Zach has also created a free online guide that provides insight to those interested in converting a vehicle into a livable space. The Vanual offers a detailed, step-by-step guide to the construction process, including tips and tricks for life on the road.
