Rebecca Naughtin Architect has completed the first of the Gable House designs, known as Gable One. This stunning residence was specifically designed for a couple and their furry companion. Located in North Fitzroy, Gable One is a single-story Victorian home that underwent alterations and additions to create a truly remarkable living space.
The project commenced with a highly detailed brief provided by the clients, which posed a distinctive challenge. Every aspect of the design process was meticulously managed, including the organization of socks and cutlery, down to the smallest details. The objective was to not only meet the clients’ needs but also offer flexibility for their day-to-day activities.
One of the primary considerations was accommodating dog walkers and ensuring convenient access for them. The team even went to the extent of measuring and testing various heights for the dog doors to ensure a perfect fit for their furry companion. Additionally, multiple study areas, a future baby nursery, and a parents’ retreat were incorporated to cater to the changing requirements of the clients.
The rear screened deck of Gable One is a true masterpiece, cantilevering over the south facade and providing a breathtaking view of the city. Each fin of the deck has been thoughtfully positioned to maintain privacy and prevent overlooking neighboring properties. This meticulous attention to detail ensures that the clients can enjoy their outdoor space without compromising on privacy.
While Gable One pays homage to the traditional Victorian architecture of the area, it also stands out with its unique interpretation. The design seamlessly blends the vernacular with modern elements, resulting in a truly unparalleled residence.
Gable One marks the beginning of the Gable House series, and the team is thrilled to continue crafting extraordinary homes that surpass the expectations of their clients.
