Renovating attic spaces can be a challenging task, but Ukrainian architectural firm IK-architects has proven that with the right vision and skill, even the most unconventional spaces can be transformed into breathtaking living areas. Their recent project in the heart of Oslo, Norway, has turned an 87-square-meter attic into a stunning living space that seamlessly combines functionality, coziness, and personalization.

Perhaps the most striking feature of this renovation is the luminous dome-shaped window that adorns the attic. Resembling a sparkling crystal, this polygonal window not only fills the space with an abundance of natural light but also offers breathtaking panoramic views of the historic part of the city and the modern residential quarter. It has become a key architectural element, adding uniqueness and sophistication to the apartment.

The lower level of the apartment has been skillfully divided into two main zones: the public zone and the private zone. The public zone consists of a foyer and a kitchen-living area, creating a welcoming and open space for entertaining guests. The combination of modern and functional kitchen design with comfortable seating areas allows residents to socialize, cook, and relax in one cohesive area. The private zone, on the other hand, includes two bedrooms and a bathroom, providing a peaceful and secluded retreat for the residents.

One of the highlights of this attic renovation is the central mezzanine on the upper level. Serving as a relaxation area, this space leads to an open terrace that offers breathtaking views of the city and the fjord. It is the perfect spot for barbecues and relaxation, allowing residents to enjoy the beauty of Oslo‘s landscape right from the comfort of their own home.

The HG-31 project places significant importance on utilizing natural materials to enhance the overall ambiance. Parquet flooring and wooden decorative elements are incorporated throughout the space, bringing warmth, character, and a sense of nature into each room. This attention to detail not only enhances the aesthetic appeal but also creates a harmonious connection between the interior and the surrounding environment.

The collaboration between IK-architects and the development company Predio has resulted in a truly impressive transformation of this attic space. It showcases the potential that lies within hidden spaces and serves as an inspiration for those looking to infuse their personal elements into their living spaces. By seamlessly blending functionality, coziness, and personalization, this renovation proves that attics can be turned into extraordinary living areas that offer comfort, sophistication, and breathtaking views.

These carefully chosen details not only infuse the apartment with warmth and a natural ambiance but also create a sense of unity throughout the various rooms, forming a cohesive and organic living space.
