A welcoming and comfortable environment to make one feel at home; this is the spirit of Locanda via Priula, wine bar and B&B, located in the historic center of Morbegno, an alpine town in the Sondrio province of northern Italy. Vintage objects paired with modern accents highlight the traditional culture of Valtellina while embracing innovation and freshness.
Designed by RdN Studio, the space effortlessly combines elegance and functionality, creating an atmosphere that is both visually stunning and comfortable. The bar itself, clad in vertical green cement tiles, displays a modern touch while echoing the color of the old building’s original exterior railings.
A dark backdrop neutralizes and masks the operational area, while the wooden counter is a clear invitation to converse with the host, always ready to offer a glass of wine and hospitality. The central table in reclaimed wood is the social focal point of the room. Around it, distinctively furnished nooks offer clients a varied choice of seating where they can feel comfortable and savor a good glass of wine.
Plush armchairs, a leather sofa, wood and metal stools, a black piano, and colorful chairs recreate a homey environment for relaxation and enjoyment. The bathroom has a “feminine” touch, recalling the fact that the building was once home to the poet from Morbegno, Gisella Passarelli. Matte color accents contrast with a soft white background and natural wood to serve as a reminder of the past.
On the upper floors, guest rooms satisfy a desire for modern comfort while remaining anchored in the ever-present local vernacular of the territory. Traditional forms blend with Nordic and modern accents, creating attractive, simple spaces which treat guests to beautiful details and a hearty dose of mountain spirit. At Locanda Via Priula, the blending of innovation and tradition is continuous, natural, and enjoyable, making guests feel right at home.
