Medusa Fruit Bowl by Giorgio Bonaguro

Andrea Basile

The natural and dynamic shape of the jellyfish (called “Medusa” in Italian) has inspired Milanese industrial and interior designer Giorgio Bonaguro to design this handmade fruit bowl which was presented this month at IDA, an art and design fair in Rio de Janeiro. Starting from a cylinder of glass, through a long process of heating and forming of the material, the walls fold on themselves. In a not entirely controllable way, because of the different fluidity of the material according to the temperature, some ruffles are naturally created, different for each piece, thus remembering even more the movement of jellyfish, and practically making each fruitbowl a unique piece.
