Peter Morris Architects has teamed up with Fluid Glass to transform Minty House, a refurbishment project nestled in West Hampstead, London. The redesign aims to improve the spatial dynamics and forge a unified, unique living space within the classic Victorian terrace context. A key highlight of the project is a new kitchen extension that fills the side return, greatly enhancing the connection between the home and its garden.

A striking feature of this extension is the curved glass bay window, which not only floods the interior with natural light but also introduces an eye-catching architectural detail. This innovative design provides sweeping views of the garden, fostering a sense of openness and fluidity throughout the area. The curved glass element adds a contemporary flair, distinguishing the house from its Victorian counterparts.

In addition to the bay window, the collaboration between Peter Morris Architects and Fluid Glass Studio has resulted in the installation of a sliding door system that facilitates a smooth transition between indoor and outdoor spaces. The sleek, minimal-framed glass doors strengthen the bond between the interior and the garden, allowing sunlight to pour into the kitchen and dining areas. This thoughtful design choice effectively expands the living area and enhances the relationship between the home and its natural surroundings.

Strategically placed skylights significantly enhance the overall design of the home. Both square and circular skylights not only serve as sources of natural light but also act as artistic features that enrich the ambiance. The square skylights align perfectly with the modern, linear aesthetic, while the circular ones introduce a softer, more organic glow, fostering a harmonious and tranquil atmosphere.

The design prioritizes coherence and flow, with clear sightlines extending seamlessly from the front to the back of the house. Glazing elements are meticulously arranged to create a unified spatial experience. The combination of the curved bay window, sliding doors, and unique skylights injects a sense of modernity into the Victorian structure, enhancing the home’s visual allure while maintaining its historical charm.
