Budapest-based design student Bence Agoston has conceived a pair of sunglasses to alterate the experience of listening music, providing psychedelic effects without any use of drugs.
The effect is achieved with six special layered lenses which can rotate around their center point. The lens patterns are based on optical effects such as Moiré-effect. When the lenses are rotated relative to each other, vision is changed for the wearer. However, the individual patterns can be varied with others so that the number of variations – depending on the number of lenses – can be endless.
The patterns on the lenses are transparent and RGB color-code. “Because every color filter the incoming lights differently, and the patterns can overlap each other, or leave blank fields, the new vision is completely random and twisted” says Agoston. “The ideal situation for use is during travel, when people listen to music, just looking out the window and watching the ever-changing sights, in perfect harmony with the music. The shape is designed with the aim of simplicity and distinctness, that the wearer belongs to a kind of subculture.”
The Mood sunglasses can also be used with clear lenses for the everyday life. The frame is made of ABS and is 3D printed, the lenses are UV-filtered and transparent.
