In a bold fusion of automotive heritage, cutting-edge technology, and mission-driven design, Software République unveils the VISION 4RESCUE, a revolutionary prototype transforming the future of emergency response. Based on the iconic Renault 4 E-Tech electric platform, this fully operational demo-car transcends the traditional ambulance or fire truck, emerging as a high-tech, interconnected nerve centre designed to save lives faster and more effectively.

This project is no mere styling exercise; it’s a tangible solution born from Renault’s deep understanding of emergency services, cultivated over 15 years of partnership with fire services across 19 countries. The VISION 4RESCUE is the physical manifestation of a broader high-tech ecosystem developed by Software République – a powerful alliance of seven leading French companies dedicated to smart, secure and sustainable mobility. Validated through collaboration with three specific fire services, this ecosystem integrates nearly 20 interconnected rescue solutions, aiming to standardize disparate technologies for a faster emergency response and better coordinated rescue operations.

At its core, the VISION 4RESCUE serves as a mobile command centre. Its connectivity and processing power allow emergency crews to analyze complex situations in real-time and dynamically adapt their strategy, regardless of terrain or disaster scale. The vehicle integrates innovative equipment seamlessly, including a dedicated surveillance drone housed within a distinctive roof-mounted aerodynamic capsule. This capsule, highlighted by a blue LED strip, also contains critical Software Républiquetechnology designed to rapidly restore communication networks in devastated areas. Specific, optimized stowage compartments throughout the vehicle ensure vital gear – from helmets and medical bags to tablets and walkie-talkies – is secure, accessible, and perpetually charged.

Reinventing emergency vehicle codes, the VISION 4RESCUE boasts a robust, raised stance derived from the Renault 4 Savane 4×4 Concept, offering 15mm more ground clearance. Crucially, it features a second electric motor enabling permanent all-wheel drive, ensuring critical access across any landscape. Its design language speaks directly to its purpose. A dynamic new red paint mimics rippling fire, slashed by urgent fluorescent yellow-green diagonal lines. Matte and gloss finishes create sharp, authoritative contrasts.

Every graphic element serves a dual purpose. The slate-grey chevron pattern on the bonnet and roof references technical design and operational signage. Bold diagonal lettering – “RESCUE” and “SAPEURS POMPIERS” – combined with clear emergency numbers (112, 18) on the rear panels, instantly communicate its mission. Wing extensions protect against debris while enhancing the vehicle’s presence; their pearlescent midnight blue, grained finish evokes firefighter uniforms and reinforces off-road credentials.

The assertive light signature features round LED headlamps and a distinctive illuminated surround. Imposing bumpers with contrasting red and yellow inserts incorporate functional tow rings and auxiliary lights, signalling readiness for heavy-duty operations. Notably, conventional bumper stops are replaced by innovative 3D-printed shock-absorbing parts featuring a “PinPon” pattern – a direct, functional nod to French emergency sirens.

Developed in close consultation with firefighters, the interior prioritizes safety and efficiency. A reflective strip on the rear door crosspiece alerts others when doors are open in low-visibility scenarios. While based on the Renault 4 E-Tech electric dashboard, unique touches abound. A polished metal grab handle bar in front of the passenger, engraved with “Je te reçois 4 sur 4,” doubles as a secure holder for walkie-talkies.
Firefighter-inspired design continues on the specially tailored seats. Upholstery incorporates the “PinPon” pattern and fire services logo, while embracing sustainable materials. Echoing the Renault 4 E-Tech electric’s use of recycled content, the seats partially utilize recycled foam sourced from fire-resistant firefighting suits.

The rear transforms into the operational brain. The tailgate opens to reveal a split boot. The upper section replaces the parcel shelf with a slide-out desktop and dual screens connected to a high-powered computer, creating a true mobile command centre. Here, crews control the drone, manage communications via roof antennas, and coordinate the emergency response. Below, dedicated stowage boxes efficiently organize essential firefighting equipment and electronic gear. Leveraging the Renault 4 E-Tech electric’s practical DNA – a low load sill and flat, rectangular boot – accessing this vital setup is effortless, while the long tailgate provides crucial shelter from the elements during operations.
The VISION 4RESCUE is more than a concept; it’s a compelling vision of the future. It demonstrates how intelligent design, electric mobility, and secure interconnected technology – embodied by the Software République ecosystem – can converge to empower emergency services, enhance coordination, and ultimately, save more lives. It redefines what a rescue vehicle can be: a responsive, connected, and sustainable lifeline for communities.
