The automotive industry is undergoing a radical shift, driven by the urgent need to combat climate change and conserve resources. Renault Group is at the forefront of this transformation, embracing a sustainable future. In line with its Corporate Purpose and Renaulution strategic plan, the Group is committed to achieving carbon neutrality by 2040 in Europe and 2050 globally. Ampere, the Group’s dedicated electric vehicle entity, is leading the charge towards this ambitious goal, aiming for carbon neutrality by 2035.
Ampere represents Renault Group’s groundbreaking response to the evolving landscape of the automotive industry. This transformation is not just a challenge for the company alone; it encompasses its subsidiaries, entities, and partners, necessitating a holistic, ecosystemic approach. Ampere firmly believes that technological innovation is essential for achieving a sustainable future.
Decarbonization cannot be addressed in isolation; it requires a comprehensive view of a vehicle’s entire lifecycle, from inception to disposal. This involves focusing on five critical areas: eco-design, resource selection, manufacturing processes, usage, and end-of-life management. The Renault Emblème demo car exemplifies this philosophy, unveiled at the Mondial de l’Auto 2024, showcasing a vision of a family vehicle that is decarbonized “from head to toe.” It boasts an impressive 90% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions (CO2e) throughout its lifecycle compared to similar vehicles produced today.
With the Emblème, Ampere and Renault are building on the exploratory studies initiated with the Scénic Vision concept in 2022. Their ambition is to develop a working prototype of a family car that combines spaciousness, comfort, and advanced technology while pushing the boundaries of decarbonization. Every decision regarding technical specifications, technological advancements, and design aesthetics has been driven by the goal of enhancing decarbonization, exploring intelligent and viable combinations in resources, materials, production methods, usage, and end-of-life recovery.
With a remarkable 70% reduction in the carbon footprint of its components, the Renault Emblème showcases a commitment to sustainability through the use of 50% recycled materials. Almost all of the materials utilized can be recycled at the end of their lifecycle, highlighting the innovative spirit of Ampere and its partners in striving for maximum vehicle decarbonization in the future.
The design of the Emblème is rooted in eco-design principles, with engineers and designers collaborating to optimize aerodynamics and efficiency. The outcome is a breathtaking shooting brake that stretches 4.80 meters, seamlessly blending aesthetic appeal with spacious interiors. This vehicle invites you to embark on journeys, featuring a cabin that boasts a contemporary and poetic design.

Inside, the Emblème is equipped with cutting-edge technologies, including a sweeping openR panorama screen that runs the length of the dashboard. Its rear-mounted dual-energy electric powertrain, powered by both electricity and hydrogen, offers an ideal solution for low-carbon driving, whether for short trips or long adventures.
“Emblème embodies our ecosystem approach and the level of our ambition when it comes to building a sustainable future through technological innovation. It is proof that automotive is still driving progress… keeping emotion in the equation! It embodies the future Design Language of the Renault brand, what we call « La Nouvelle Vague ». An average ICE car has a 50 tons footprint: for Emblème, it’s 5 tons, cradle to grave. It’s a masterpiece,” says Luca de Meo, CEO of Renault Group and CEO of Ampere.
