After having designed a collection of vases that float like jellyfish in the water, which will be presented at the upcoming 2017 Milan Design Week, Japanese studio nendo reveals a flower vase with a cherry blossom branch peeking out from within. Peering into the opening, it becomes apparent that the cherry blossom tree is growing out of the wall surface and is in full bloom.
Cherry blossom petals have been affixed to the outer wall of the vase one by one, making it appear as if they were floating away on the wind. Producing such vibrantly expressive details and such an elaborate work within the small space inside required an immense amount of skill.
It would not have been possible without the porcelain artisans of Sèvres who have inherited the company’s over 275 years of history and tradition.
This work will be shown alongside other several projects that Nendo will present in Milan, where the studio has its own exhibition space at the Jil Sander showroom.
