The Blue Voyage project draws its deep inspiration directly from the nearby Arabian Gulf. The installation’s curved forms elegantly mimic the dynamic movement of waves, instilling a sense of fluidity and calm. Upon closer inspection, the surface patterns become increasingly captivating, revealing intricate flowing lines and layered ridges. This meticulously detailed surface plays beautifully with light and shadow throughout the day, ensuring the ceramic walls offer an ever-changing visual spectacle, deeply connecting the interior design to its coastal locale.

Measuring six by nine meters, the Blue Voyage installation is one of the world’s largest 3D-printed ceramic architectural features.

The scale of this artistic feat is immense, with each of the two feature walls standing six metres high and stretching nine metres long. To achieve this ambitious installation, Studio RAP designed and 3D-printed an astonishing count of approximately 900 unique ceramic tiles. Every single tile was parametrically generated, a testament to the studio’s mastery of advanced fabrication techniques and digital design. This approach guaranteed not only a precise fit but also unparalleled control over the final form and the high material quality.

A crucial design element that enhances the overall sculptural impact and spatial clarity are the specially engineered corner tiles. These unique components allow the intricate pattern to wrap seamlessly around the edges of the walls. This detail ensures the Blue Voyage installation reads as a cohesive, sculpted whole rather than a mere surface treatment, underscoring Studio RAP’s commitment to holistic and integrated architectural solutions.
