Tokujin Yoshida designs Issey Miyake London new Flagship Store

ANTONY CROLLA

Japanese designer Tokujin Yoshida has designed the Issey Miyake London new flagship store. Yoshioka’s design involved stripping out the fittings inside the lower two floors of the 1950s building, which were previously occupied by a bank, and leaving walls and columns bare.

“People feel admiration for two types of time; unpredictable future and old history which has been cultivated for long” said Yoshioka, speaking about his project. In the Issey Miyake London new flagship store at Brook street in London, it is expressed that this futuristic contrast between the texture created through long time and the aluminum dyed blue like a fabric. As like Issey Miyake’s creation does, the idea of combination of technology and hand work is appeared in the store.
