Urban Ant City by STUDIO 1:1

Ossip van Duivenbode

The spatial installation ‘Urban Ant City’ by Dutch design firm STUDIO 1:1 is a living city map of Rotterdam. Hundreds of Spanish ants find their way through the functionally planned city, designed by architects and urban planners. In the existing street plan, the ants create organic alternative routes, gradually developing a new Rotterdam.

The Urban Ant City is showcased an the Office for Metropolitan Information. OMI is a new center for the city; it is an information desk, exhibition space and has an extensive excursion program. This summer, tourists, visitors and Rotterdam’s residents can enjoy the very first program of OMI. Rotterdam’s icons are placed in a new perspective with special itineraries, maps, photos and a city presentation.

Open: Monday – Saturday 10:00 – 19:00, Sunday 12.00 – 17.00 / Location: Schiekade 205 (Schieblock), Rotterdam.
