Among the many facets of today’s commercial spaces, futuristic concepts are the most effective code to sensual experience for those who are looking for avant-garde encounters. The simplicity of such visions serves the goal to bring the experience back to shopping itself, while creating a two-fold visual and psychological distance between the futuristic concept and customers. To bring it back to a humanistic level with soft and warm touches and achieve a subtle balance is being discussed in the creation of the Wellsky space.
Outlined with silver and white-colored materials, Chinese practice Xian Xiang Design uses a lot of stainless steel to reinforce the design topic of futurism and tech ambience. Going inside the space, abundant use of silver and white merge harmoniously as pink glass and malachite green sofa adds warm highlights to the space.
A closer look at the material will unravel rich textures in the space, where sleek stainless steel meets with rough white walls, while the terrazzo floor meets with a marble long table adding a touch of textural warmth to the space. The shop façade speaks with the assembled row of arc doorways, a teaser that leads customers into the shop as the yellow light stripes creates a ceremonial atmosphere.
The shape of the partition wall echoes with the arc-shaped doorways, creating an extra layer to the space and an additional layer of fun when going through the shop. The partition installation behind the malachite green sofa adopted a circular shaped window covered with a pink filter, maintaining the openness of the space while highlighting the garment displays in the round frame, offering the customers a window that links the resting area with the garments.
Interior space captures light. For fashion displays, it is crucial to be able to capture light and use it onto the display. Using daylight and neutral coloured light bars throughout the space, Wellsky captures the interplay of light and shadow in a cool manner. The display racks are decorated with warm light details, which give a light touch from above the garments, adding highlights and softness at the same time. Under the dressing mirror, neutral coloured lights are arranged to give a futuristic feeling while getting dressed.
