Bao Bao Issey Miyake Pop-Up Store by Moment

For Issey Miyake’s brand Bao Bao Japanese studio Moment designed a pop-up store surrounded by over 300 floating metallic balloons in Tokyo. This seven day temporary shop stands out in an historical, stately department store in the heart of Nihonbashi district, Japan. The limited space is enclosed by the connected square balloons to stimulate passersby’s curiosity. These floating balloons are always quivering because of passersby or air conditioning, emphasizing the lightness of the structure. Lightness becomes a kind of landmark inside the stately building.

The aggregate balloons simply embodies the characteristic of the product Bilbao, which is consisted of the small triangular pieces. As they introduce the new product, platinum series, during this seven days event, aluminum evaporation is done on the surface of the balloon. Surroundings are reflected in the balloons, and this reminds us of the platinum finished products. At the end of the seven days event, the connected balloons finished their role deflating little by little.
