The Batdand by Studio Banana Things is a piece of sound technology that allows users to listen to their private soundscape as well as the world that surrounds them. The human-centered design meets technology delivering a high fidelity acoustic experience via an innovative bone conduction system.
The Batband works via bone conduction, consisting of transducers that emit sound waves perceived by inner ear, thus freeing the outer ear to outside noise. Sound waves are transmitted at a frequency that can be conducted through the bones of the skull. The ears remain free, therefore users get to hear twice as much, without compromising on comfort, quality or style.
The Batband goes around the head, pair it to a mobile device through Bluetooth. Touch sensing controls on the side let users listen to their favorite playlists, and discreetly make and take calls at the same time. Its outer frame is made of spring steel ensuring a good grip around the back of the head and the inner padded lining guarantees maximum comfort and minimum sound leakage. The Batband is easily rechargeable via USB port and requires no software or update. Studio Banana Things are now seeking founds on kickstarter to help with manufacturing. The Batband will be available in April 2016.
