Nestled in the UNESCO-listed city of Český Krumlov, Czech Republic, Casarosa unveils a collection of five distinctive boutique apartments within a charming historical townhouse. Crafted by the talented Denisa Strmiskova Studio, each apartment presents a refreshing alternative to the conventional lodging options in this vibrant city.
The interiors are bathed in natural light, showcasing a delightful blend of soft pastel tones, sleek steel accents, and exposed wall textures. “Our aim was to preserve the spaciousness of each unit while honoring the original structure and maintaining a harmonious atmosphere throughout the building,” the design team explains.
The ground floor features a cozy apartment perfect for solo travelers or couples, while a larger unit overlooks a serene street, immersing guests in the local ambiance. On the first floor, an inviting smaller apartment and a more expansive one with a cleverly designed walk-through bathroom separate the living and restful spaces. This level also retains the charm of the original tiled stove, a nod to the building’s history.
The top floor boasts the most generous apartment, comprising three rooms and three bathrooms, all centered around a loft-style communal area that offers stunning views of the sacred Křížová hora mountain and the picturesque rooftops of the city. “Our apartments are designed with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring high standards of comfort while highlighting various layouts and scenic views. The focus is on simplicity, emphasizing the materials and forms of the furnishings,” the studio elaborates.
During the renovation, the architects uncovered fascinating layers of original wall coverings, which were lovingly restored to enhance the chosen pastel color scheme. Most of the furnishings and lighting are vintage treasures, sourced from antique shops and markets, including the Mito chair by Carlo Bartoli for Tisettanta, silver chairs by Ycami Italia, and the iconic Tulip table and chairs. Denisa Strmiskova has artfully paired these vintage finds with neutral seating, stainless steel kitchen units, and elegant silver and glass accents, creating a cohesive design throughout all Casarosa apartments.
The interior is adorned with captivating artworks, with plans from the owners to refresh the collection periodically. Currently on display is an exhibition by Eugenio Percossi, drawing inspiration from the nearby Rose Garden. This collection delves into the enchanting theme of roses, examining both their exquisite beauty and the inevitability of decay.
