ECD Automotive Design Reimagines History with the Bespoke Jaguar E-Type GTO

Jaguar E-Type GTO Restomod: ECD's Bespoke Bridgewater Commission

ECD Automotive Design

In an audacious fusion of heritage and forward-thinking craftsmanship, ECD Automotive Design has unveiled a machine that transcends restoration: the Jaguar E-Type GTO. Dubbed The Bridgewater Commission, this one-of-a-kind, open-top grand tourer redefines Jaguar’s iconic lineage, blending Series I–III DNA with D-Type racing cues and modern performance. It’s not a revival—it’s an evolution.

Hand-formed aluminum bodywork, shaped in Jaguar’s spiritual home of Coventry, England, sets the stage. Heritage metal craftsmen sculpted the elongated bonnet, tapered tail, and functional louvers, echoing the Series I E-Type and the legendary D-Type racer. Yet every curve was refined for contemporary presence—a sculptural homage to 1960s motorsport, reborn.

Beneath its Metallic British Racing Green skin lies a technical symphony. ECD engineers fitted the Coventry-crafted body to a custom-configured Series II chassis, then installed a rebuilt Jaguar V12 engine tuned by Texas specialists Team CJ. Paired with ECD-developed fuel injection and a bespoke exhaust, the powertrain delivers over 400 horsepower—transforming classic aesthetics into modern exhilaration.

Inside, the touring cockpit masterfully balances vintage soul and discreet innovation. Hand-stitched Spinneybeck leather upholsters GTS Classic Car Seats in a vertical fluted pattern, while a brushed aluminum dash houses Moal Bomber gauges and toggle switches. Modern amenities—Bluetooth audio, heated seats, USB ports, and power locks—are seamlessly integrated, invisible until needed. A custom removable hardtop offers open-air freedom or enclosed refinement.

Critical design details elevate the GTO beyond nostalgia: Fully adjustable suspension and a fast-ratio steering rack transform classic curves into contemporary agility, while 15-inch Turrino Wire Wheels wrapped in Pirelli blackwall tires bridge heritage aesthetics with modern road-holding. Stopping power matches the V12’s thrust through 6-piston front and 4-piston rear calipers—an engineering statement where every component honors tradition while transcending it.For ECD, this project transcends technical achievement. As co-founder Scott Wallace declares, “This is the Jaguar GTO that never was—but always should have been.” The Bridgewater Commissionembodies a philosophy where heritage isn’t preserved—it’s reimagined.
