Sto Werkstatt Exhibits The World’s Best Architectural Photographs

Sto Werkstatt Building Images

Matt Emmett

Building Images, is an annual exhibition at London’s Sto Werkstatt of the finest architectural photography. The exhibition features winning images from The Arcaid Images Architectural Photography Awards 2016 and celebrates the importance of photography in the way we experience and connect with spaces.

The exhibition showcases the world’s most renowned architectural photographers including overall winner Matt Emmett, as well as short listed entrants Fabrice Fouillet, Adrien Barakat, Julien Lanoo, Laurian Ghinitoiu, Torsten Andreas Hoffmann, Nick Almasy, Iñigo Bujedo-Aguirre, Edmund Sumner, Sebastian Weiss, James Newton, Kilian O’Sullivan, Will Scott, Victor Romero, Paul Turang and Mark Wohlrab.

Divided into four categories, each one exploring different architectural qualities and a diverse technical methodology, Building Images showcases a broad range of photographic styles, as well as featuring a diverse set of outstanding architectural forms.

Sto Werkstatt in collaboration with Arcaid Images has sought to examine the skill and creativity of the photographer as well as explore the critical possibilities of medium through the award’s four categories: Building in Use, Exteriors, Interiors and Sense of Place.

British photographer Matt Emmett was the overall winner with this interior of a covered reservoir in Finsbury Park designed by the East London Waterworks Company in 1868 (image above).

Building Images is free and open to the public from 10th February at Sto Werkstatt in Woodbridge Street, Clerkenwell, London. The exhibition will be accompanied by a series of talks and seminars, through which the public will have the opportunity to further explore the medium of photography in architecture.
