Whether you live somewhere without a lot of storage options, or you simply want to keep things minimal this year, there’s nothing wrong with wanting to decorate your home with subtle touches! If you love decorating your home for the holidays, there are so many options that you can use to make your space feel comfortable and festive.

The thing is, storage can not only take up a lot of space, but can also take up unnecessary time with setup and putting things away at the end of the season. If you’re ready for simple, stylish decor, here are a few ideas for seasonal decorating that don’t require storage.

1. Live Trees

Having a Christmas tree is one of the most quintessential elements of seasonal decor. No matter how you decorate your tree, how big it is, or what you leave under the tree, having a tree can sometimes be all you need to make your home feel festive.

However, storing a fake tree can be a nuisance, especially if you have a large tree without a lot of space. That’s why having a real tree can be a great idea. Not only does having a live tree feel like a truly festive experience — picking it out and taking it home — but you also don’t need to worry about storing it by the end of the season!

2. Seasonal Wreaths

Trees aren’t the only living decor you can use to make your home feel seasonally bright — in fact, there are so many ways to utilize plantlife in your decor.

Although wreaths can be easy to pick up at any local store and hang on the door with no questions asked, you might want to think about getting a wreath made out of real foliage. Naturally, it’ll fade by the end of the season, and you won’t need to worry about storing it.

3. Candles

Whether you’re more into the tea light variety for the ambiance, or you’d rather keep something around to give off a beautiful aroma, candles are a fantastic way to get your whole home into the holiday spirit.

Scented candles, decorative seasonal candles, and even lanterns can bring a festive charm to any space — especially if you’re working with an open-concept design where scents and light can easily travel.

Try looking for scents that feel festive, like cinnamon, winter trees, peppermint, and other seasonal ideas. That way, when you use them up, you can toss them without worrying about storage.

4. Poinsettias

Back to the natural design ideas, poinsettias are great seasonal plants that are perfect for the winter holiday. Not only are they natural and festive, but they also can live all year round. If you happen to have a bit of a green thumb, you can care for this plant throughout the year and keep bringing it back into the spotlight when the holiday season rolls around!

5. Fairy Lights

Technically, these might require a little bit of storage if you plan to take them down, but the thing about fairy lights is that you don’t need to take them down if they mesh well with your style.

Although Christmas lights can tend to have a color scheme to them most times, you can also find some more subtle lights with a bit more neutral variety to them. Try finding all white lights — so they can look festive when you need them to, or simple and cozy all year round!

6. Candy

If you want decorations that don’t require storage, why not look into edible decorations? There are so many festive decorations that also function as sweet treats — like candy canes, popcorn on strings, and even seasonal fruits and vegetables arranged in an enticing pattern.

All of these are great ideas for decorating with things that will eventually dwindle as people enjoy them as intended! You can even hang them on the tree for maximum decorative enjoyment!

Decorating That Doesn’t Require Storage

Even though seasonal decorating might seem like it requires a lot of storage, there are so many ways that you can decorate stylishly without sacrificing space for the rest of the year. By utilizing natural elements, getting creative, and even using some edible decorations, you can make the most of the season.
